Awesome receiver. Great sound. Rich and warm with vinyl. Plenty of power. Wish it had a couple more aux inputs, but when made, there were not as many input sources.

As with most of the McIntosh transitionals the 1700 was certainly exceptional for the engineers target market. With fluent deep (also comped ) bass, Mac's understood and rarely compromised midrange and superior warm hi's. It still maintains its position to this day as a superb 2nd or office/bedroom alternative to a multi-componant system.
