SCOTT has issued a user's notice on a small set of Luxfer SCBA Cylinders which may not have undergone autofrettage during cylinder testing. Luxfer has determined through testing and analysis that these cylinders are safe and there is no requirement to remove the cylinder from service. However, the cylinders should be tested as soon as is practical from a DOT conformance standpoint.
Luxfer is ready to coordinate for testing of the cylinders at no-cost to the ship. NAVSEA 05P4 and NSWCPC have identified which ships the cylinders ended up on through the SCBA install. DLA was able to trace most of the cylinders to their destination command and most of these have been found and are already being scheduled for the testing. The exception is 20 cylinders DLA could only trace to approximately 8 fleet commands. These 8 commands will be forced to review their EGL for the affected cylinders by their serial numbers. The SCBA Cylinder Notice provides a list of the ships, the example identification label on the cylinder to find the serial number, and the POCs to assist.
